Overview & Race requirements

GESA is a family friendly and inclusive club; at the end of the day we simply want to see more people riding bikes and having fun shredding trails.

We are stoked to have first time pinners in U13 racing through to U19 riders who race National and International races in the UCI Enduro World Cup (EDR) and everyone in between!

Juniors race against riders in age groups determined by the rider’s age at 31 December of the racing year; ie if a rider turns 15 during the year they will be racing U17 category, as they are no longer “under” 15. Age categories are U13, U15, U17 and U19. Minimum age to race a GESA race is 11 years old.

To match the UCI EDR categories after U17 riders will move into U19. There was a temporary stage where UCI Gravity Enduro was U21, however in 2025 changed to U19. GESA will reflect the same.

All Ages

  • Full face helmets which meet Australian Standards AS2063 are compulsory for all riders

  • Knees must be covered

  • Helmets with a detachable chin piece are acceptable

  • Riders must wear a helmet whenever they are riding their bike ie. helmets on liaison stages not just timed stages; riding without a helmet will lead to disqualification

In addition to above U13, U15 and U17 riders must also wear the following at all times

  • Gloves

  • Long sleeve jersey

  • Knee pads

  • Elbow pads

Food, Water and Spares/Repairs

Riders must be self sufficient for the day with their food, water and spares.

Riders may collect additional food, water or do repairs in the race village but cannot:

  • leave food elsewhere on the course or

  • have parents/carers providing food between stages other than in the race village

  • riders must ride or push their own bikes during all liaisons, including after the final stage returning to the village.
